公共技术系列讲座 四十六
题目: Ultra Low Temperature in condensed matter: how do we get there and measure it?
时间: 2013年01月31日 10:00
地点: 中科院物理所M楼236室
报告人: Vladimir Shvarts, Ph.D.
Abstract:
I will discuss currently available methods and techniques to obtain and measure temperatures below 0.1 K in condensed matter, with an emphasis on 3He – 4He dilution and copper demagnetization refrigerators. Few examples of special systems for STM as well as for astrophysics will be presented in detail.

Speaker: Vladimir Shvarts, Ph.D.
Dr. Vladimir Shvarts is a senior cryogenic scientist in Janis Research Company. He has more than thirty years experience in low temperature physics and cryogenic techinques. He used to work in quite a few world famous low temperature labs and institutions, such as Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering (Ukrainian Academy of Sciences), Kamerlingh Onnes Laboratory (Leiden University, The Netherlands), and MicroKelvin Laboratory (University of Florida). As an expert in thermodynamic analysis, design and performance characterization of powerful dilution refrigerators (DR) for the temperature range 1 K – 5 mK, including pulse-tube cooled cryogen-free DR's, he designed and realized the DR for the lowest temperature STM (10mK, NIST, USA) in the world.
