报告摘要:
Multivalent batteries are attractive due to their high energy density. Magnesium and calcium batteries are considered promising technologies owing to the natural abundance of these elements and their low redox potentials (–2.37 V and –2.87 V vs. SHE, respectively). However, their development faces several significant challenges.
Among these challenges, the most critical are understanding interfacial phenomena, as well as the development of suitable electrolytes and cathode materials. Electrolyte selection for multivalent batteries is constrained by the thermodynamic instability of certain solvents and salts at the metal/electrolyte interface. This instability leads to the formation of poorly conductive passive films.
Interfaces play a crucial role in determining the overall performance of multivalent batteries. Currently, the most promising cathode materials are redox- active organic molecules or polymers.
In this presentation, we will provide an overview of recent achievements from our group in the field of multivalent batteries, with a focus on the proper selection of battery components.
